MONOLOGUE PREPARATION:

Working with your selected monologue together we will:

  •  Discover character objectives, obstacles and tactics.
  •  Map thought progression and changes in dynamics.
  • Work on physical and vocal character embodiment.
  • Develop a strong and grounded physical and vocal presence.
  • Create a dynamic performance full of color and variation that will take the audience on a journey.
  • Practice taking direction that may be asked of you in the audition room.
  • Work on how to present yourself to the audition panel with confidence from the minute you walk in the room.
  • Ensure you are confident with the material and prepared to work the monologue in different ways if asked.

For this work it helps to have the monologue memorized and have a solid understanding of the play and your characters’ journey throughout the play.  

SIDES PREPARATION:

Working with the sides provided by the director or casting director together we will:

  • Mark the beats of the scene.
  • Discover character objectives, obstacles, tactics and change of tactics.
  • Map the thought progression through the scene.
  • Work on physical and vocal character embodiment.
  • Work on being present, listening to your scene partner and responding to what you are receiving from your reader.
  • Practice taking unexpected direction.
  • Work on how to present yourself to the audition panel with confidence from the minute you walk in the room.
  • Ensure you are confident with the material and prepared to work the scene in different ways.

For the preparation of sides it helps to bring your own reader to work the scene with you.
